Skyrail celebrates 25 years of Australia’s World Heritage
6th August 2007

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is playing a part in the nationwide celebration of Australia’s World Heritage listed sites, with a display at Red Peak Station.

2006/07 marked the 25th anniversary of the first Australian properties being inscribed on the World Heritage list; to celebrate, the Department of Environment and Heritage prepared a touring photographic exhibition.

Consisting of eight, double-sided panels, this unique exhibition contains imagery and information on each of Australia’s 16 World Heritage sites, including Australia’s Tropical Rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef.

Touring Australia and New Zealand in 2007/08, this exhibition is now on show at Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Cairns, much to the delight of Skyrail’s General Manager, Max Shepherd.

"Skyrail is proud to be able to take people on a unique experience through Australia’s World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforests every day," he said.

"This exhibition allows us to showcase all 16 of Australia’s unique World Heritage listed sites, in the midst of the rainforest environment, making for a very special occasion."

"It provides the unique opportunity for visitors to one World Heritage site, to learn about the values and cultures of others, whilst being surrounded by the environment itself."

Australia’s World Heritage Photographic exhibition is on show at Skyrail’s Red Peak Station until 28th August 2007. It can only be accessed by Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.

On leaving Skyrail, and Cairns, the exhibition will move to Mount Tombah Botanic Gardens, Bilpin, New South Wales.
