Skyrail - A 'Must-Do'

Skyrail News: November 2008

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway has been short listed from more than 600 nominations to be named a 'must do' attraction in Queensland.

Nominated as a part of a new campaign, Skyrail joins a prestigious list of Queensland's best experiences inviting locals to explore their own 'backyard'.

'150 Must-Do's in Queensland' is an intrastate RACQ tourism initiative, which was launched in Brisbane today to coincide with Queensland's 150th birthday celebrations next year.

A 'short' list of 150 things to see and do in Queensland was selected from hundreds of nominations submitted by Tourism Queensland, RACQ Travel, local councils and the 14 Regional Tourism Organisations around the state.

Queenslanders are being asked to vote for their favourite experience in an interactive, multi-media campaign which runs from now until January 2009. The result will be an A-Z guide of the state's best experiences, from the cities, to the coast, to the outback.

Skyrail General Manager Max Shepherd said the rainforest cableway was honoured at being included in the nominations.

"Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is honoured to represent Tropical North Queensland in RACQ's list of 150 things to see and do in Queensland," Mr Shepherd said.

"This campaign encourages Queenslanders to explore the rich diversity of our great state on some of our most iconic experiences: Skyrail is honoured to be included in that list," he said.

Voting for your favourite experience can be completed on-line at - a website developed specifically for the campaign. Results will be announced in February 2009.

It is hoped the campaign will encourage Queenslander's to bask in the breathtaking beauty of their state, be proud of its heritage, love its people and celebrate all of the wonderful experiences on offer.
