Celebrating 20 years of World Heritage listing in the Wet Tropics in 2008

Skyrail News: November 2008

In conjunction with celebrations, Skyrail hosted a World Heritage Photo Competition, which ran from May to October.

Open to all who visited the Barron Gorge National Park on Skyrail during the competition, entrants had the chance to win Skyrail and WTMA merchandise, as well as the grand prize of a Kodak digital camera and photo printer.

Skyrail General Manager, Max Shepherd said: "Skyrail's World Heritage Photo Competition encouraged people to join the celebrations of the 20 year World Heritage listing milestone, whilst experiencing one of the great natural wonders of Cairns, Australia and the world."

'We received many outstanding entries from our guests, celebrating the beauty and diversity of the World Heritage listed rainforest in the Barron Gorge National Park,' he said.

All entries were judged by a panel, with representatives from Skyrail, WTMA and Kodak. The overall prize winner was Wendy Dillon (pictured). Thank you to all guests who supported the 20 Years World Heritage celebrations by entering the competition.

A selection of entries was used to create a commemorative desktop calendar for 2009.
