Skyrail Welcomed Camp Quality Kids

Skyrail News: November 2011

Skyrail in conjunction with The CaPTA Group, The Kuranda Scenic Railway and Rainforestation Nature Park on Saturday 5 November welcomed 27 children as part of the 117 strong group visiting our wonderful local attractions with Camp Quality.

"Camp Quality does a fantastic job supporting children living with cancer and providing them with amazing experiences that they will never forget" said Stan Kielbaska, General Manager, Skyrail. "When we were approached by Camp Quality via CaPTA, we jumped at the chance to be involved with the Cairns family camp" continued Mr Kielbaska.

From initial conception, Skyrail recognised the importance of being able to comfortably and easily accommodate wheelchair passengers and/or those requiring special assistance including vision impaired guests who travel with guide dogs. The gondola doors were made wide enough to accommodate most wheelchairs, and a ramp system is in place to ensure easy boarding and disembarkation.

"We are happy to have been given such a wonderful opportunity to put smiles on the faces of these children who have unfortunately been through more challenging experiences than most people ever have to face at such a young age. We hope that as well as having a fun day out, they will learn a lot about the rainforest and habitat" said Mr Kielbaska.

The group enjoyed a ranger guided tour at Red Peak mid station which in combination with the CSIRO Interpretive Centre experience at Barron Falls, plus the cableway itself, provided the perfect end to an amazing day out.
