Located within walking distance of Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal, Tjapukai combines dance, history and legends to create a dynamic interpretation of 40,000 years of culture.

Skyrail will take you on an amazing experience over Australia’s World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforest canopy and deep into the forest. Discover ancient tropical rainforest and journey into one of the oldest continually surviving rainforests on earth.

Your Skyrail experience should take approximately 1 ½ hours, this includes spending time at the two rainforest stations, Red Peak and Barron Falls. Allow 20 minutes for each station, to enjoy a Ranger guided boardwalk tour and visit the Rainforest Interpretation Centre, lookouts and historical displays.

You can also add a Kuranda Scenic Railway journey to your itinerary along with a one-way Skyrail experience. The famous Kuranda Scenic Railway was built over 120 years ago and winds its way through the tropical mountain ranges between Cairns and Kuranda.

This package includes time for you to explore Kuranda ‘Village in the Rainforest’. There are rainforest walks, markets, cafes, restaurants, and galleries for you to visit.

You will visit Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park in the afternoon.

Combine your journey with Kuranda Scenic Railway. Built over 120 years ago, this historic train winds its way through the mountains between Cairns and Kuranda. Upgrade your Kuranda Scenic Railway experience with Gold Class. Tailored to provide a more luxurious and personalised experience, the Gold Class upgrade is $49 per person or $169 per family and is available on the 9.55am and 3.30pm services only on packages which include Kuranda Scenic Railway. Flame Tree Bar and Restaurant: Buffet Lunch

Packages can be booked with or without lunch at Tjapukai’s Flame Tree Bar and Restaurant. Tjapukai’s international buffet menu offers a wide selection of dishes with fresh and seasonal elements including hints of Australian/Indigenous flavours with native spice inspirations which adds to the various selection of hot and cold dishes, roast of the day, soups, delicious deserts, and hot and cold refreshments. Plus enjoy a Torres Strait Island dance performance while you dine. Once you click book now you will be able to add lunch as an optional extra during your booking process.


Upgrade to Diamond View Gondola

Be amazed by the spectacular tropical rainforest from the unique viewing perspective of Skyrail’s glass floor Diamond View Gondolas. 

11 Diamond View Gondolas not only provide guests with panoramic views of the tropical landscape, coral sea and rainforest canopy but also offer the unique perspective of looking straight down from the treetops to the forest floor below.

Diamond View gondolas carrying a maximum of 5 passengers, will depart stations approximately every 7 minutes and passengers travelling on them will enjoy dedicated boarding queues at all terminals and stations.

Diamond View is available on a one-way per person basis only; return and family rates do not apply.


Gold Class Upgrade

The Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway package is available with a Gold Class Upgrade for the Kuranda Scenic Railway component. Tailored to provide a more luxurious and personalised experience, the Gold Class Upgrade is $49 per person which includes locally produced delicacies and a complimentary gift. You will be offered the upgrade at the time of booking.

Note: Kuranda Scenic Railway Gold Class service is available on the 9:55am and 3:30pm services only. Any dietary requirements must be notified to us at least 24 hours prior to travel.

KSR Gold Class inclusions:

Welcome drink served 20 minutes prior to departure; morning service tropical mocktails are served in the Freshwater pavilion area.

Dedicated host service, souvenir trip guide, moist towellete, individual seating, lounge-style chairs, ambient, historical décor, including timber look flooring, historical photographs and cedar interior.

Kuranda Scenic Railway gift pack including Kuranda Scenic Railway badge, pen and postcard.

An exclusive tour of the Heritage-listed Signal Cabin at Kuranda Station commences at 11:40am.

Queensland and local Tablelands produce such as Gallo Dairyland Cheese, Skybury Coffee, Wondaree Macadamias, Mango to Go (100% pure mango treat), freshly baked muffins with local fruit, Sirromet wines and Great Northern Brewing Company Super Crisp Lager.

Timing

This package is a full day tour experience with morning departures. Times will be offered during the booking process.


Transfers

  • Self Drive - Return Skyrail: If you have your own vehicle, or are using public transport, then you will not require transfers from your accommodation.
  • Self Drive - One-way Skyrail and train: If you have your own vehicle, you will not require transfers from your accommodation however you will require a shuttle between Skyrail and Freshwater Railway Station. Please select your preferred Skyrail and train package option with a self-drive transfer and the cost of this will include a one-way transfer from Kuranda Scenic Railway’s Freshwater Connection Railway Station to Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal at the end of your train journey. Click here for more information and a self-drive map
  • Other: If you do not have your own means of transport, then we recommend booking Skyrail with return coach transfers. The transfer service is available for Cairns city, most Cairns beaches and Port Douglas locations. Times will be offered during the booking process. A return coach pick up and drop off cost is in addition to your Skyrail and train experience.
