Atherton Tablelands

The Tablelands (easy accessed from Cairns and Kuranda by car or coach tour), a region comprised of several townships, including Atherton, Mareeba, Malanda, Yungaburra, are set in the mountains (average of 700 metres above sea level ) to the west of Cairns. The area is dominated by rainforest and pastoral lands, and boasts many natural attractions, including waterfalls, scenic look-outs, walking & hiking tracks and cool swimming holes.

Skyrail is an easy and pleasant drive from all Tableland locations.

Hot Air Ballooning

Known as being the hot air balloon capital of the world, this region is also renowned for its spectacular scenery and astonishing natural wonders as well as producing gourmet food and wine.  The cool, tropical tablelands are also home to a number of welcoming bed and breakfasts, eco lodges, holiday parks and other accommodation.

Hot Air Balloon Cairns flies daily over the Atherton Tablelands and provides free transfers to your choice of either Skyrail's Smithfield or Kuranda terminals after ballooning. A popular morning combination, ballooning and Skyrail offer a birds eye view from the rainforest canopy plus a whole new perspective up high, where Australia's biggest fleet of hot air balloons fly.

Enjoy the wide open spaces and the hot air balloon fiesta atmosphere, look for the koala, the kangaroo, the world, the aussie and many more colourful balloon designs that delight visitors from all over the world. The temperate climate here means that balloons take off every day of the year, with door to door transfers from all Cairns accommodation included with a Ballooning and Skyrail combo.  Find out more at  http://www.hotair.com.au/cairns
