A new record of 1,500 trees planted!

The tropical heat didn’t stop our enthusiastic Cairns residents from donning their hats, gardening gloves and bringing their green thumb to plant 1,500 trees at Freshwater Creek, Redlynch for Tropical Tree Day 2018.

Volunteer planters enjoyed a free sausage sizzle, glitter painting, information stalls and displays as well as registering for their chance to go in the draw to win great Skyrail and Cowboys prize packs!

Getting underway early, our tree planters made their way to the back of Freshwater Creek to begin planting. Cairns showed again just how enthusiastic our community spirit is with 1,500 trees being planted quickly and carefully thanks to the great teamwork showed.

Many hands make light work proved to be the case with a new Tropical Tree Day record of 1,500 trees planted in just over one hour!

Tropical Tree Day has quickly established itself as a thriving and well supported community event. The new record of 1,500 trees this year outshines last year’s number of 1,000 trees and the year before of 500 trees showing its increasing popularity year in and year out.

Pacific Toyota Cairns provided sun-smart shirts, hats and gardening gloves to ensure everyone participating remained sun safe.

Those with grumbling stomachs were treated with a delicious free sausage sizzle and the glitter artist and face painting was a hit with children and adults alike!
